Today you get to hear directly from 2 moms about their experience with the Starting Point Process! Each of these moms went through Starting Point Sessions with me and got walked through the same Starting Point Process that is now taught in Starting Point School! Whether you struggle most with nutrition or fitness or your routine — the Starting Point Process has a Starting Point for you and will work for you JUST like it did for these mamas!
Sam is a first time mom, full time NICU nurse, and about 18 months postpartum. She has a hectic schedule and was struggling with consistency in all areas, but with limited time, found that her initial Starting Point would fall under the nutrition umbrella.
Jesica is a mom of 2 and was about 1 year postpartum at the time she went through the Starting Point Process. She realized that she needed to stop procrastinating at night and just get to bed because it led her to having her kids be her alarm clock and having a short temper and being less productive day to day. Jesica’s initial Starting Point fell within the sleep/routine path and she hasn’t looked back!

[00:00:00] Today you get to hear from two Mamas and hear about their experience with the starting point process. Each of them went through at least one starting point session with me and got walked through the starting point process that is now taught in starting point school, which as a reminder will be available on Thursday for you to enroll in.
So let's get into hearing all about their experience with starting point sessions in the starting point process.
Hey mama. Welcome to the Tough Love Mom podcast. I know you're here because you're ready to get consistent and finally lose that weight. And you're not afraid of a little tough love. You know what to do to lose weight, but following through on those things feels impossible. You wish you could just feel like you're strong, confident self again, and want to be a good example for your little ones.
Thrown off by mom. Guilt in the unpredictability of motherhood. It's frustrating. Taking on your journey. Postpartum is hard, but [00:01:00] it's not impossible. Hey, I'm Liz, and I've been where you are. I gained a lot of weight in my pregnancies, 90 pounds and then 60 pounds. I needed to lose that weight to take control of my health, and honestly just wanted to feel like myself again with a sustainable approach to weight.
Simple consistency in working on my mindset. I lost it all in just over a year, both times, and I'm here to help you do the same. I believe that we have an ingrained ability to figure out what we need to do, make it happen, and do it in a way that AWS the world. If you're ready to stop falling off the wagon, create solid, routine, and healthy habits, and finally feel your best inside and out, all while enjoying Dino nuggets on your salad.
You are in the right place. We're about to transform your journey. My. Get pumped up. It is tough love time.
Okay. These two mamas that you hear from today both walked through the starting point process and while their sessions were [00:02:00] one-on-one with me in starting point sessions, because starting point school wasn't a thing yet, it's not a thing until Thursday. Um, the process is still the same. And what's cool about starting point school is it's self-paced.
So instead of. You know, on a 45 minute call with me, you're doing this on your own time when it works for you and the cracks of your day, and it's the same process that you'll walk through. So what they got to go through with me was diving into self honesty, so figuring out why they were stuck, where they were with their journey and what they wanted most in their journey.
And then from there, what we do is consider outside circumstances, anything that's unique to their life, like their schedule, priorities, goals, how many kids you have, what your day-to-day schedule looks like. And from there, We pick a starting, starting point, either in the path of fitness, nutrition, or routine.
And these two moms had two separate paths that they started on. One was in the nutrition realm and one was with routine. And then for two weeks they got accountability from me to stay consistent. if they booked another starting point session. They got a little, a little bit [00:03:00] more accountability for a couple more weeks.
And once that habit for each of them began to get built, sometimes after a few ex extra weeks if they needed it, which is okay, right? This is unique to you in your journey. Um, There's no one answer to where to start or how long it will take, but once they got consistent, they were able to add in another habit, which is what I call a stepping stone.
Again, this is the same process that's taught in starting point school, which opens on Thursday. That's in two days. So let's listen in to hear how the starting point process impacted these two moms, so you can decide if this is the answer to finally making change in your journey in losing weight, the doable, sustainable.
Hi, my name is Sam. I am just about 18 months postpartum with my first child. Before working with Liz and the starting point process, I. Kind of had the all or nothing mentality. I would jump in and do a million changes at once and [00:04:00] then fall off within a couple weeks, get super frustrated and down on myself, and then it would make it so much harder to start again, and I would unfortunately start again in the same process.
I had fears that I was going to continue in the same process of starting and falling off the wagon again. Being a first time mom and working not a consistent schedule by working night shifts put so much extra stress. It took me a while to book a call with Liz. I had been kind of watching for a while on the sidelines, listening to the podcast, just taking in all of her knowledge through the podcast and her Instagram, and then I was tired.
Just being on the sidelines, and I wanted these changes for myself. So I decided to finally book a call during the holiday season. But those fears so far have been [00:05:00] squashed. Working with Liz has been amazing getting the pieces together, starting with my first starting point, we aimed for three to four cooked meals a week.
It was something that was sustainable with my schedule. Even through sickness and Thanksgiving, I was able to make it work and that outcome has helped there be less stress with figuring out what I need to eat with grocery shopping. I'm spending less money cuz I'm wasting less food. I'm able to have some meals prepared for me to go to my job or to have lunch on days that I'm home.
It has really been the first stepping stone in my journey of my nutrition component and I'm feeling I can start tackling more pieces once stepping stones pieces. With these starting [00:06:00] point experiences, I really wish everyone could know that it is completely tailored to what you need in that moment. And Liz will give you as much or as little support as you feel you need, but she's really setting you up to guide yourself through future starting points or stepping stones.
She's not doing it all for you, but she's helping guide you to be able to do it on your own. You are not having those calls every couple weeks? I do wish I had started it sooner cuz I feel I probably would be a lot further along in my postpartum journey. And probably be mentally in a better spot, but I am so glad to be gaining these skills now, even at 18 months postpartum, and I'm looking forward to using them after we have another child.
I know I'll have these skills already built up. [00:07:00] Hi, my name is Jessica, um, mom of two. Um, started working with Liz right around nine months postpartum, uh, with my second and then. Took on a starting point session right around, I think it was 11, 12 months, uh, postpartum. And I'm so glad I did. I had had a lot of frustration with being consistent in self-care for my to get fit, to eat healthy, just to do more things for myself.
So I was really nervous that even if I made the call and took the time and worked with Liz with the starting point process, that I would still fall off the wagon and. You know, old habits never die, they say, but Liz really has it figured out, and she's great at what she does. Uh, because we got going. It wasn't wasted time.
We weren't. Chatting crazy long either, which was good for a mom, you know, with little ones in the background. [00:08:00] She got right down to it and we had a list of my things that I wanted to tackle and could never seem to master. And, um, My top thing that Liz helped me identify was that I needed to go to bed earlier.
I needed to get rest, and I needed to be able to wake up before the kids and accomplish some things for myself, um, before having to play mom so that when I was playing mom and the day rolled out, um, never has planned. I could adapt and, you know, be well rested and have taken. Some things just for me so that mentally I could handle the day as it came.
So I started by going to bed 30 minutes earlier than I had been, and I had to work backwards by about 45 minutes to get to an optimal time for me. And so that took about three, four weeks. I did a week at a. Stepping back the 30 minutes [00:09:00] and it was just that one simple thing. That's all I focused on.
Everything else. If I did it, I great, but if not, I, my responsibility was just going to bed earlier. And I love that about this process is for me to get consistent. I have learned with Liz's help, I can only focus on one small thing and then those small things build for me and that's. I'm feeling more empowered to do things, um, less short-tempered, which is always great.
Um, and just being able to be my best in my roles as mom and wife and stay at home working and schooling all the things, um, which I know I'm not the only one, but it felt great that the starting point is so unique. Each person, it's great. Liz just really knows how to hone in and be positive and help you find your consistency and [00:10:00] discipline and mindset.
Um, cuz there's so much going on and in the world that I think we get distracted and Liz helps just really shut out the noise to focus on right in front of. This is what you gotta work on, and it's just the right amount of tough love to help mom to. Conquer these things a little bit at a time so that it sticks for the long run.
I'm super grateful I took the plunge and probably will have to do a check back in process, um, at some point. But Liz is really good at keeping in touch on a weekly basis, so I'm grateful for that. I'm grateful for her and I'm grateful that I found this process. Whether you struggle most with nutrition or fitness or your routine, the starting point process has a starting point for you and will work for you just like it did for these.
Everyone is starting their journey with a different background, experience, and habits in their own journey. Whether it was really strong before or not so great where you wanted it to be, [00:11:00] but what's beautiful about the starting point process is the fact that it's designed to be tailored to you. Step one, self honesty helps you focus in on the one area in your journey that will be the most impactful on your confidence in how you're approaching your journey and in your ability to stay consistent.
Step two is simply choosing your starting point within that area or path as we refer to it. In the starting point process, it'll be fitness, nutrition, or sleep, and. , there's a handful of starting points within each, and you will find the perfect one for you. And then step three is simply staying consistent.
You'll be educated and resourced on how to stay consistent in your journey, covering topics like mindset. You're gonna get accountability within our Tough Love Mom, client, community. Um, we're learning how to include your family in the process and even how to handle failure. So if you're ready to learn, To implement this process and make real change like these moms did.
