There was a time I wasn’t very healthy and felt far from confident…
Just a few years ago, I had preeclampsia and gained 90 pounds during my first pregnancy. I’ll never forget how not like myself I felt — inside and out.
After my son was born, I was ready to just feel like myself again and workout — something that usually made me feel strong and confident. 6 weeks postpartum, I was still holding onto 50 pounds and my body felt so weak doing the most simple postpartum workout moves.
Humbling is the best word I have for those early days and that feeling sticks with me to this day, even after losing 80 pounds by the time my son turned one.
My second pregnancy was healthy & uncomplicated, yet I still gained 60 pounds! And postpartum, I found myself in that same vulnerable spot. (You can almost see the disbelief in my eyes in the picture on the left.)
But, having gone through that journey once, I knew I could do it again. 14 months later, I’d lost all of that weight — totaling 150 lb of weight loss in 26 months.
Now don’t get me wrong, weight loss is great — we’re overall healthier not holding onto all of that weight from pregnancy — but what’s better?
