Hey, mama. Welcome to the Tough Love Mom podcast. I know you're here because you're ready to get consistent and finally lose that weight, and you're not afraid of a little tough love.
You know what to do to lose weight, but following through on those things feels impossible. You wish you could just feel like you're strong, confident self again, and want to be a good example for your little ones, but you get [00:01:00] thrown off by mom guilt in the unpredictability of motherhood. Taking on your journey postpartum is hard, but it's not impossible. Hey, I'm Liz, and I've been where you are. I gained a lot of weight in my pregnancies, 90 pounds and then 60 pounds. I needed to lose that weight to take control of my health, and honestly, just wanted to feel like my. Self again with the sustainable approach to weight loss.
Simple consistency in working on my mindset. I lost it all in just over a year, both times, and I'm here to help you do the same. The whole premise of this [00:02:00] podcast is to speak into the lives of Moms, a message of getting disciplined and staying consistent. So when moms join our listener community, they answer a few questions. So I can better understand why mamas are in there, what they're wanting out of the podcast and what they're struggling with.
Most things like that over and over again. When I read these responses, the biggest struggles that I see keeping moms from losing weight and just feeling good about their bodies and their habits and how they're showing up are these three things. Lack of consistency because mom life is so demanding and it's so hard to get into any type of routine, a lack of discipline around food, most likely because of stress and being overwhelmed with all that there is to change and not knowing where to start.
You may look at my life and go, well, she probably didn't struggle with a lot of that, but after my first was born, I remember being cleared at six weeks and. I came home and I was like, how in the world am I going to be [00:03:00] able to get back to the level of discipline and consistency that I know I'm capable of?
It felt like I was going to be climbing Mount Everest and yes, um, I was just about like a month and a half, two months postpartum. But no matter how long you've been a mom, when you're ready to take your journey on and actually get consistent, it feels like. No matter what point you're at, when you're ready to start making change, it's a handful
It feels like a handful, and that overwhelm is so normal, as are the other struggles that moms face. Like that lack of consistency because of the demands of being a mom and just not being able to get into a routine, having a lack of discipline because you find yourself. You know, eating on the go or emotionally eating cause you're stressed and just trying to cope with all that is motherhood, or you're overwhelmed because you know where you're at right now and where you wanna get, but it feels like there's this huge gap.

They're things that are ritualistic. Almost a response. You've probably had a day one in your journey, a Monday, you know, a January 1st where it felt like everything took mental energy, right?
You're getting up with your alarm. You have to make that. Working out. First thing, it's a choice. Eating a good breakfast, actually prepping a [00:05:00] lunch, actually eating a whole foods based dinner. These are all choices and they're taking a lot of mental energy every single day, and that's because those were not habits at that point.
They're all things you have to put mental effort into and make intentional choices about. Now, that's normal at the start of a. , any changes that you wanna make in your life will feel that way at first. The issue is that we try to change all of those things at once. It felt exhausting and you probably fell off after a few weeks cuz you were trying to do all of those at once.
Putting more mental effort and then you even have to give. And when you do that, everything will crumble eventually because none of it truly became a habit. Even if you were able to hold onto that for a few weeks, when one thing changed, everything else started to cru. Now. That's okay if you've been there.
I've been there and that's why I created starting Point school. In there, we will take a one habit at a time approach. We find your starting point, which is the first habit that you will master, truly [00:06:00] master, and you'll build on that, again, one habit at a time because this is what makes real change happen.

It gets confusing. You know, our understanding of it all gets blurry. We simplify it, and that's how we start starting point school. You learn about weight loss and how simple, how to simplify it, what the basic foundational pillars are, so you can just focus on [00:07:00] those and truly master them. Then you'll go through a specific process.
It's called the starting point process, and it includes self. Finding your starting point and then fully equipping you to stay consistent. Literally everything from education resources and accountability with other starting point school members and myself. That's the starting point process, and like I said, it's self-paced, so you will get through the learning piece of all of this, the foundations, and then the starting point process in one to two weeks.
I actually provide two calendar. So you can follow and have accountability, not just with your habits, but with completing starting point school. When you sign up, I'm holding your hand to the fire, and I'm saying you're gonna do this. Here's one calendar to get it done in one week, and here's another calendar for you to complete it in two.
And actually, our first group accountability call will be two weeks after the doors open. It'll be that second week of January. Perfect timing, but I do wanna say, this is the catch . It felt wrong for me to say and approach this program is, okay, here you go. Here's all the information. Go learn it and do it. And that's literally, like I said, January through the end of March. Think of how. Your journey could look by then by just changing [00:09:00] one habit at a time. Literally, you could have five or more new habits, true habits, things that don't take any mental energy. You just do 'em because it's who you are and how you show up in your life, likely spanning the pillars of fitness, nutrition, and routine.
I'm not kidding. Can you, can you imagine that three-ish, three, four months from now having five or more new habit. Things that are just who you are because it's how you show up in your journey down pat. Man, this is how you make real change, and I'm gonna be there for you every step of the way. So I want you to close your eyes and imagine this for a minute.
What would your life look like if you woke up feeling good in your body and excited about how you're gonna show up that day? Even if life gets crazy, you know it's not gonna affect your journey because over the past few, You've been diligent about getting solid with one habit at a time. It's March and you're like, I got this.
I'm working out consistently. I feel really [00:10:00] confident in how I'm eating and fueling my body and approaching nutrition, but I've done it in the most sustainable way and I know no matter what today brings, I can keep it going. You've gotta work, workout planned for mid-morning cuz that's just in this season when it works best.
And when your kids go down for a nap, you don't find yourself mindlessly eating and standing in front of the pantry every 15. Just to cope and try to, you know, de-stress from the morning with your children. Your family eats an actual home cooked meal most nights a week. Now, instead of throwing together randomness or drive through food like it used to be, you're making a plan for your meals throughout the week for your dinners.
You're shopping for it and you're, you're cooking, you're following through. You don't stress eat when the kids go to bed either, no matter how rough bedtime was, or bath time, all those old habit. They're gone because you've truly changed them and your family, they've had your back the entire way cuz you did this, the sustainable [00:11:00] way.
You didn't try to, you know, pull your hair out and white knuckle it by doing it all at once and stressing yourself out and stressing your family out and overwhelming everyone and getting frustrated with yourself and taking it out on your family when you fell off. That didn't happen. This. because you took it on one habit at a time.
Using the starting point process. Your kids see a difference. They cheer you on. They hold you accountable cuz they're like, mom, you're supposed to work out right now. Right? , that happens and you realize that working out with them isn't as bad as you thought it would be, and your husband, he's really proud of you.

Yeah. Part of that confidence is because your body's changed. It was a long process and it took a lot of, you know, focus on the process and one thing at a time and one day at a time. But you've reached that point. But starting point school, it's on your. , you can fit this in when you have five minutes, 10 minutes. Golly. If you get to spend like a Saturday morning at a coffee shop, you can knock out half of this . It fits in the mom cracks of the day. Cause I get it. There's no training within starting point school longer than 15 minutes because I know how busy your life is and I don't [00:14:00] want you having to show up for hours at a time.
And there is no need to show up for a certain length of time. You can listen and learn while you're doing laundry or cooking dinner. If you have to pause in the middle of a 10 minute video, totally fine. Totally fine. Is it ideal if you can sit down at a desk and work through it all with no interruptions?
Sure, but it's not required and honestly it's not necessary and it might not be realistic, to be honest. I mean, I have interruptions when I'm working at home, so it is what. , the trainings are short to help accommodate that cuz I understand and you can learn this whole process within two weeks and immediately apply it to your life.
The most time consuming piece is step one, that self honesty piece because you're gonna spend some time doing some reflection work. But be, again, being mom myself, I understand that you don't have all this time to sit down and journal and write. So I made sure that the questions and what you're working through to reflect is as.[00:15:00]
