FULL TRANSCRIPT
[00:00:00] Last week, you learned what a starting point is. Now it's time to learn the formula to master your starting point. That's taught exclusively inside starting point school. We're all about our health and fitness journeys as moms being sustainable, and this is how.
Hey mama. Welcome to the Tough Love Mom podcast. I know you're here because you're ready to get consistent and finally lose that weight. And you're not afraid of a little tough love. You know what to do to lose weight, but following through on those things feels impossible. You wish you could just feel like you're strong, confident self again, and want to be a good example for your little ones.
Thrown off by mom, guilt and the unpredictability of motherhood. It's frustrating. Taking on your journey. Postpartum is hard, but it's not impossible. Hey, I'm Liz, and I've been where you are. I gained a lot of weight in my pregnancies, 90 pounds and then 60 pounds. I needed to lose that weight to take control of my health, and [00:01:00] honestly just wanted to feel like myself again with a sustainable approach to weight.
Simple consistency in working on my mindset. I lost it all in just over a year, both times, and I'm here to help you do the same. I believe that we have an ingrained ability to figure out what we need to do, make it happen, and do it in a way that AWS the world. If you're ready to stop falling off the wagon, create solid, routine, and healthy habits, and finally feel your best inside and out, all while enjoying Dino nuggets on your salad.
You are in the right place. We're about to transform your journey. My. Get pumped up. It is tough. Love time.
All right. If you haven't yet, get on the starting point school wait list. We are just over three weeks away from the doors opening and your journey changing forever. I know it sounds dramatic. I know. But having walked not only myself, but dozens of moms through this process over [00:02:00] the last few months, I mean more mamas.
More moms need this process and offering something self-paced, which starting point school is that you can do literally 10 minutes at a time, you know, after the kids go to bed or on the weekend in the morning. Well dad hangs out with the kids. It only made sense cuz I know our schedules are crazy and now you don't have a ton of time on your plate, but something you can do on your own time.
You know, 10, 15 minutes at a time as you have time to listen, as you have time to learn. That's doable. So if you're frustra. By falling off the wagon every single time you try to get consistent or if you wanna feel confident in your approach to your health and fitness. As a mom, you're confident cuz it's sustainable.
You're confident, cuz you know you're actually making change. And if you're ready to simplify your journey, not have it feel so complicated, not have it feel so frustrating and confusing. So that way you can finally stay consistent for real and actually lose weight and keep it off. Then you need to join the wait list so you don't miss a [00:03:00] chance to prioritize your health in the simplest way out there.
This is not anywhere else, so let's get you on the wait list, starting point school.co. No more all or nothing mindset or approach. We're doing this the right way, so I'll see you on the wait list. Now we're diving right in. To the Triple S formula to help you master your starting point, which basically means getting consistent with your first foundational habit.
The three S's are self honesty, starting point, and staying consistent. So let's talk about each of those. Let's talk about the first S, self honesty. What is it? What does that mean? Self honesty is simply being honest with yourself about why you are at where you're at right now in your. It's being honest with where you want to go and what would be realistic for down the road for you.
And then again, being totally honest with yourself about what that disconnect is. I call [00:04:00] that going through those questions and using self honesty. I call that R R U P. You're reflecting on the past, the future, and right now in each weight loss pillar, then you're uncovering that's the you the disconnect, and then you're pinpointing your.
Which path are you gonna take first for your starting point now in starting point school, there's a whole set of guided questions that I will walk you through. So this process. Peace of self honesty isn't overwhelming or too burdensome, um, or time consuming because it really, you can get stuck in this thinking about like what's made you struggle in the past and what you wanna do down the road.
You can get stuck in just thinking about that. Especially if you're someone like me who wants to do it perfect and you just wanna do it right. You know, you can get stuck in that reflection process. And so these guided questions will help walk you through that in an efficient form. And, and I know you don't have all the time in the world too, cause we.
So I'll take you through it efficiently and effectively. Now, this process and self honesty in itself, [00:05:00] as I'm sure you know, I do know, you know, it's uncomfortable, but the way the guided questions are set up in starting point school, make the mindset side of everything very doable. And honestly, just in general, if you can be honest with yourself, if you can grow that self honesty muscle, even if it's on your own, you are set for the rest of your journey.
That's like that. That is the hardest. in anyone's health and fitness journey is being honest with where, why you're at, where you're at right now. That's really hard, really hard to do. But if you can do that and start to respond to that answer, figuring out why you're at where you're at, and then making changes, I mean, you are well past the point of falling off again.
You are, you are on your way. So, um, this again is important. Self honesty is important because it's the foundation to. and it's the beginning of letting go of being overly self-critical and feeling shame all the time because you are [00:06:00] aware of, and you can recognize and call out what has caused you issues in the past and move on from it.
And self honesty just also allows you to be more intentional in all that you do and how you show up, you know, making decisions in the. Intentionally versus just letting your emotions, you know, let you go all over the place. So that is the first s self honesty. The second one starting point, if you missed episode one 30 or just haven't listened to it yet, go back and listen to episode 130 so you can learn all about starting points.
Cause I really dive into it there. But in simple terms, you're going directly from that last piece of the self honesty. , which is pinpointing your path. It's pinpointing whether you're gonna start in nutrition in the fitness realm or with your routine. And what you're doing in starting point is simply finding your starting point.
It's simple as that. So you're going from that pinpointing, you know, the, the RU that I mentioned reflect, [00:07:00] uncover, pinpoint. You're going from pinpoint, pinpointing your. Nutrition, fitness or routine, and then picking your specific starting point within that. That's all the starting point. Step is, and the final S is staying consistent.
And this is the key. This is the long term part. This is the piece of starting point school. This is a piece of your journey that you implement forever. Now, . Staying consistent is multifaceted, and we know that because it's not easy, right? You've got to set your expectations. Realistically. You have to understand how your brain is working as you put in the effort to get more consistent.
Spoiler. It's not easy in the beginning when you're making change. Your brain's kinda working against you cause it wants to do what's comfortable. Comfort. You also have to understand when is a good time and when it's right for you to move. To your stepping stone, aka that next habit. So it's not too early, but also not too late.
It's also great to learn how to incorporate your family [00:08:00] into being consistent. You know how to bring them along on this journey with you. Not forcing them to do anything, but just make them part of, bring them into the fold, you know, have them be supportive of you. And it's important to know how to deal with failure, cuz you're gonna feel that every once in a while you might experience it and of.
How to find accountability, because that's one of the most key things in staying consistent. This all may make consistency with your starting point, so it can eventually become mastered. Sound complicated, but these factors that I just discussed all need to be talked about once. You just need to get it in your brain once and once you start to walk it out, over time it becomes more natural.
It becomes more second. Bringing your family in, dealing with failure, understanding how your brain works, and recognizing that in the moment, these things all become more natural as you stay consistent. But it's good to learn about them upfront so you're not , so you're not going, why is this, I'm so frustrated.
Why am I acting this way? Why is my [00:09:00] brain doing this? Why isn't my family on the journey with me? I'm not communicating with them. That's why, you know, that's a key thing. learning all the pieces. All the facets of staying consistent just upfront will help you as you take your first steps on this journey.
And like I said, the very beginning, self honesty and then your first starting point is hard. It is not easy, but it is what gets a snowball rolling down the hill. Perfect timing for a metaphor, right? With the snow . But what I just walked you through, self honesty, starting point and staying co. Is the structure of starting point school.
It's the meat and potatoes of starting point school, and it's meant to be a cycle that you go through, each new habit that you build into your journey, not necessarily at the depth and effort that you go through it the first time, because each new habit that you're gonna build on will likely get a little bit easier, but when you master your first starting point, and you go back, you take some time, you go, okay, I've got this down.
You get to go back to a quick moment of self [00:10:00] honesty. Okay, I've got this down. What's gonna be a realistic next step for me? What do I want to change next? What needs to change next? And then identifying that stepping stone and then staying consistent. You master it and you go back to the beginning, a quick moment of self honesty, picking where you're going next, and then staying consistent with it.
This formula is what helps you build a. That's sustainable. I just gave it to you. That's literally, that is literally how you do it. So if you wanna understand and actually follow this so you can make this January, the last January that you quote, start over, head to starting point school.co. And you know what, if you don't end up doing starting point school this, go around or ever, that's okay.
Find some time to reflect right? Versus what's ideal for you? What do you want to be ideal in your journey? Like what would that look like? Decide on one habit to stick to and then stay consistent. It is that simple. We don't need [00:11:00] to overcomplicate it. I hate that so much. There's so much on social media, which is great.
It's all information. It's all resources. There's so much on Pinterest, there's so much in Google. There's so much at your gym. There's so much that it gets complicated when what we need to bring it back to is self. Picking one habit, your starting point, and then staying consistent with it. It is not more complicated than that.
Okay? So find some time, do some reflect. Pick one thing and stay consistent. Get after it before you go. Thank you for spending this time with me on the Tough Love Mom podcast.
